„75 Leben“ skizziert biographisch das Leben von 75 Menschen, die das Frankfurt der Vorkriegszeit ihr Zuhause nannten. Einige lebten lediglich für einen kurzen Zeitraum in der Stadt, andere verbrachten nahezu ihr gesamtes Leben hier – allen gemein ist, dass sie Frankfurt am Main nicht freiwillig verließen. Die einen wurden deportiert und in einem der zahlreichen Konzentrationslager ermordet. Den anderen gelang die Flucht in ein sicheres Exil. Wiederum andere wählten den Freitod. Ausgangspunkt des Buches ist die sogenannte Deportationskartei der Jüdischen Gemeinde Frankfurt, welche auf rund 6500 Karteikarten die Lebens- und Adressdaten von Gemeindemitgliedern bis zu ihrer jeweiligen Deportation festhält. Die einzelnen Textbeiträge erzählen das Leben dieser Menschen, die im Zuge der NS-Diktatur die Stadt verließen. Lediglich einige wenige der hier Porträtierten fanden ihren Weg nach Ende des Zweiten Weltkrieges nach Frankfurt zurück.
