Este volumen desgrana las formas en que la anomalía teatral, articulada en el eje de la ortodoxia y la heterodoxia, opera en cuatro ámbitos: las poéticas teatrales gestadas bajo el franquismo, los constreñimientos de la censura, las problemáticas relaciones del teatro español con otras tradiciones nacionales, y la amputación del exilio teatral republicano de 1939. Los distintos capítulos proponen abordajes metodológicos que dan cuenta de cómo el carácter anómalo de este teatro es fruto de su lugar de enunciación: la dictadura de Franco. De este modo, el volumen postula que el teatro bajo el franquismo requiere de lecturas específicas que arrojen luz sobre los distintos modos en que la anomalía lo atraviesa, determina y violenta.
