Der Shakespeare-Band der Reihe "Biografik" gewährt auf anschauliche und innovative Weise Einblicke in Leben, Werk und Zeit des weltberühmten Schriftstellers. Es handelt sich dabei um grafisch sehr ansprechend aufgemachte Informationshäppchen, die wichtige aber z.T. auch entlegenere und skurrile Fakten und Daten aufgreifen und farbig illustrieren. Das Buch gliedert sich in vier thematische Hauptabschnitte: Leben, Welt, Werk und Erbe. Es wendet sich in seiner Aufmachung, Schwerpunktsetzung und Sprache deutlich an ein jüngeres Publikum, das die bunte Aufmachung und die rasche Möglichkeit Wissen aufzunehmen, ansprechen dürfte. Der kurzweilige kleine Band, in dem man gern blättert, wird abgerundet durch einen knappen Index; weitere Literaturhinweise fehlen. Als fundierte Shakespeare-Einführung zu flach (umfassender und gründlicher sind hier u.a. Günther Frank: "Unser Shakespeare", ID-A 20/14, und Alan Posener: "Shakespeare", ID-A 14/01). Gut denkbar ergänzend für ein eher jüngeres Publikum, das so an Shakespeare und seine Schriften herangeführt werden kann (auch für Schüler ab der Mittelstufe).
