"Hablando por teléfono con el consulado húngaro, la cineasta brasileña Sandra Kogut pregunta: "¿Alquien que tiene un abuelo húngaro puede obtener un pasaporte húngaro?" Del otro lado, la funcionaria queda confundida: "Sí, es posible, pero, ¿usted por qué quiere un pasaporte húngaro?" La cineasta pide la lista de documentos necesarios, pero la funcionaria continúa sin entender por qué alguien quiere hacerse húngaro. El proceso administrativo (el pedido de un pasaporte) constituirá la línea maestra del film. La cineasta lleva a cabo una especie de diario privado de sus viajes de ida y vuelta entre Brasil, Hungría y Francia, donde reside actualmente, registrando la crónica kafkiana de sus intentos frustrantes y a menudo desopilantes para cumplir con los trámites burocráticos necesarios. En el camino, descubre una dolorosa historia familiar de emigración no deseada y de racismos que aún persisten. Y al mismo tiempo, se enfrenta con cuestiones esenciales: ¿Qué es una nacionalidad? ¿Para qué sirve un pasaporte? ¿Qué hacemos con nuestra herencia? ¿Cómo construimos nuestra historia y nuestra propia identidad? Un experimento de vida, en los límites del documental." --
