"HARDWICKE PAPERS. Vols. CLV.-CXCVIII. Correspondence, principally diplomatic, of Sir Robert Murray Keith, K.B. (eldest son of Robert Keith, see above, Add. MSS. 35,461-35,495), Ambassador at Dresden (1769-1771), Copenhagen (1771-1772), and Vienna (1772-1792),and Plenipotentiary at the Congress of Sistova (1790-1791), with the Secretaries and Under-Secretaries of State, British Envoys, etc ., abroad, Viennese diplomatists and others; 1752-1792. This correspondence, the letter-books which follow (35,547-35,583) and the papers of Robert Keith above-mentioned, became at the death of Sir R. M. Keith (21 June, 1795) the property of his daughter, a minor, who as Mrs. Gillespie Smyth edited Memoirs and correspondence of Sir B. H. Keith, 1849, 80. Her guardian and aunt, Miss Anne Murray Keith, deposited them with the 3rd Lord Hardwicke in trust, which was apparently in 1810 converted into possession (v. 35,642, ff. 121, 137, 138; 35,648, ff. 352, 368). The names of the writers are given in the index. Forty-four volumes. Paper. Folio."--British Library, Department of Manuscripts catalogue entry
