Und in die Freude der Zeitgenossen, mit dabei sein zu dürfen, wenn die große Wende eintritt, mischt sich allenfalls ein wenig Beklommenheit über die atemberaubenden Terminologien, mit denen die sympathisierenden Sozialwissenschaftler, Ochsentreiber gewissermaßen, diese sozialen Tatbestände beschreiben und deuten. Die westeuropäischen Friedensbewegungen und die übrigen neuen sozialen Bewegungen gehören zu solchen Phänomenen, um die ein ganzer Wust von Literatur entstanden und weiter im Entstehen begriffen ist. Das meiste davon zeichnet sich selbst dort, wo es strikt empirisch zugehen soll, durch feurigen Bekenntniseifer aus. Die Kampflinie der verfeindeten Parteien verläuft zwar mäanderförmig; aber von genügend großer Entfernung aus kann man die Diskurs-Koalitionen doch klar genug unterscheiden. Hier die Verfechter des "social change as usual", dort die Anhänger der These von der epochalen Veränderung im sozialen Gefüge der westeuropäischen Gesellschaften und ihres kollektiven Wertbewußtseins
