Gentleman surréaliste, cinéaste et poète, Brunius est connu pour son célèbre film "Violons d'Ingres", hommage aux inventeurs du dimanche. Ce DVD nous fait découvrir l'uvre cinématographique de Brunius, ses documentaires du début des années 30. Célébration de l'invention humaine, plaidoyer pour la liberté de dire et de faire, ces films artistiques, drôles et émouvants se tiennent à mi-chemin entre la science et la poésie, entre la technique et l'insolite. À l'image du cinéma novateur du début des années 30. - Autour d'une évasion Film dédié à la mémoire d'Albert Londres docu-fiction, noir et blanc (1931, 65mn) Dieudonné, ancien bagnard, témoigne du quotidien des prisonniers en Guyane. Après la condamnation au bagne, l'exclusion de la société et l'infernale traversée sur le "La Martinière", les bagnards débarquent à Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni. Dieudonné raconte l'évasion d'un prisonnier médecin : la descente des rapides, la recherche de l'or, son installation en Guyane brésilienne et le "rachat de ses fautes" par la pratique de la médecine auprès de la population. - Violons d'Ingres Court métrage documentaire, noir et blanc (1937, 30mn) Hommage aux adultes restés fidèles aux "rêveries de l'enfance", à travers quelques-uns des plus étonnants représentants de ce que Dubuffet appellera l'art brut.
