Ein Langzeit-Studienprojekt führt sieben Sommer lang insgesamt über 80 Studierende der Hildesheimer Hochschule zu Konservierungskampagnen in eine verlassene Kirchenburg in Siebenbürgen/Rumänien. Unter der Devise Erfassen - Erschliessen - Erhalten stellen nun zwei Abschlussarbeiten mit dem Blick und den Untersuchungsmethoden der Möbel-Restauratoren ein historisches Truhenensemble von unverwechselbarer Eigenart vor. Die exakte Datierung von ca. 60 Stollentruhen gelingt schliesslich mit der Entwicklung einer Buchenholz-Jahrringchronologie an diesem Bestand. Dieses spektakuläre Forschungsergebnis ist verbunden mit der Erkenntnis einer Generationen anhaltenden Kontinuität der Herstellung typisierter Konstruktions- und Gestaltungstypen. Der Jahrhunderte lange Gebrauch durch die deutschsprachige Dorfbevölkerung der Siebenbürger Sachsen, der bis ins 20. Jahrhundert reicht, manifestiert sich in einer akribischen restauratorischen Spurensicherung
