Das Buch entstand in der Arbeit eines der letzten aus der Kinderladenbewegung der 60er Jahre stammenden Eltern-Vereine, der heute noch an einer bewußt 'parteilichen' und antifaschistischen Erziehung festhält. Für diese Gruppe ist antifaschistische Erziehung mehr als nur Aufklärung über das, was war; sie ist politische Erziehung, die Kinder gegen eine Anpassung an Autoritäten erziehen will und für einen Widerstand gegen Verhältnisse, wie sie das NS-Regime als Prototyp kriegerischer und rassistischer Regime darstellt. Diese Ausgangsposition sollte kennen, wer das Buch in die Hand nimmt. Das Buch enthält die Vorlese-Geschichte der angeblich wahren Geschichte eines Kindes, das im Konzentrationslager Buchenwald von den Gefangenen versteckt wird - und überlebt. Berichtet werden die Schrecken des Lageralltags, aber auch die vielen kleinen und letztlich durchschlagenden Widerstandsleistungen der Inhaftierten (am 11. April 1945 konnten sich die Häftlinge im KZ Buchenwals noch selbst befreien, bevor die Amerikaner da waren). Zuhörende Kinder werden sich leicht mit den Gefangenen identifizieren und sich gegen die Bewacher Krummnagel und Matschbacke solidarisieren können. Die erzählte Geschichte vermag leicht davon zu überzeugen, daß in diesem Fall Widerstand gegen Unrecht zum Erfolg führte. Ich schätze das Buch deshalb als Arbeitsmittel für eine entsprechend zielgerichtete Lerninhaltsentscheidung. Für weitergehende Brauchbarkeit bleiben m.E. wegen zu großer Reduktionen und einseitiger Charakteristiken der handelnden Personen Anforderungen an Komplexität, Widersprüchlichkeit oder auch angstbestimmter Gebrochenheit in Beschreibungen wirklicher Menschen nicht gewahrt.
