P. Dröge erzählt die ungewöhnliche Geschichte von Moresnet. Rund 100 Jahre, von 1816 bis 1919, existierte im Dreiländereck bei Aachen ein Land namens "Neutral-Moresnet", von dem keiner wusste, wozu man eigentlich gehörte. Rezension: Wie interessant und lesenswert Geschichtsschreibung sein kann, beweist der niederländische Schriftsteller und Journalist P. Dröge mit seinem Buch. Rund 100 Jahre von 1816 bis 1919 existierte im Dreiländereck bei Aachen ein Land namens "Neutral-Moresnet", von dem keiner wusste, wozu es eigentlich gehörte. Nach ungenauen Grenzziehungen auf dem "Wiener Kongress" galt dieses kleine 3,4 kmALI grosse Provisorium als Streitpunkt zwischen Preussen, den Niederlanden und Belgien. Dies lag u.a. an der profitablen Zinkmine in diesem Gebiet, an der mangelnden Einheit der beteiligten Staaten oder einfach an Schlamperei. So entstand in der Nähe von Aachen ein El Dorado für Schmuggler, Spieler, Wehrdienstverweigerer, Steuersünder und Verbrecher. Dröge beschreibt eindrucksvoll den sogenannten Briefmarkenkrieg, den Versuch in Moresnet die Hauptstadt des Esperanto aufzubauen oder ein Spielerparadies wie in Monaco zu installieren. All dies gelang zwar nicht, aber was bleibt ist eine ungewöhnliche Geschichte, die unterhaltsam und lesenswert geschildert wird
