Das Lexikon der Orgel führt die Reihe der Instrumenten-Monografien im Laaber-Verlag fort, die den Typ des Nachschlagewerks, Handbuchs und Lesebuchs vereinen (vgl. "Lexikon des Klaviers", BA 9/06, "Lexikon der Violine", BA 6/04) und schließt zudem eine Lücke, da bisher die Orgel in einer solch kompakten Übersicht nicht behandelt wurde, - obschon sie eines der ältesten Instrumente ist (schon römische Mosaiken zeigen die antike Wasserorgel) und mit Fug und Recht als die "Königin" unter den Instrumenten bezeichnet wird. Über 100 Autoren unter Leitung des Orgelfachmanns Busch sind beteiligt mit ca. 1.000 Personen-, Sach- und geografischen Artikeln, die sich mit Orgelbau/-ern, Repertoire, Organisten, Komponisten, Rezeption und Betrachtungsweise, bautechnischen Details mit allen Informationen usw. befassen. Neben der großen Orgel wird auch die "kleinformatige Verwandtschaft" wie Truhenorgel, Portativ, Regal, Harmonium, Drehorgel, Kinoorgel usw. behandelt. Die Artikel sind gut vernetzt durch zahlreiche Querverweise, im Anhang ein gesonderter Bildteil mit berühmten Orgeln und ihren Dispositionen. (2 A) (LK/S: Voss-Krueger)
