Die vorliegende Arbeit wird in drei Hauptteile gegliedert, wobei jedem dieser Teile ein paar Worte vorangestellt werden müssen. Einer einleitenden historischen Einführung in das Thema folgt eine neu überarbeitete Edition der Hystoria Tartarorum des C. de Bridia, in der zum ersten Mal die beiden bekannten Codices aus Yale und Luzern zu einer collectio zusammengeführt wurden – seit dem Auffinden des Luzerner Codex zeigte bis heute niemand derlei Ambitionen. Dem folgt eine Übersetzung der Hystoria Tartarorum – nicht nur, da sich aufgrund der vorangestellten neuartigen collectio neue Übersetzungsmöglichkeiten ergeben, sondern vor allem, da bislang keine deutsche Übersetzung des gesamten Textes angefertigt wurde.
