Als die von Schlaflosigkeit geplagte Mutter des Nachts durchs Haus geht, ertappt sie Christopher dabei, wie er Vaters alten Hut auf der Hutablage drapiert ... Der Australier P. Carnavas erzählt mit warmherzigen Bildern und wenigen kurzen aber sensiblen Sätzen eine bewegende Geschichte über die unterschiedliche Sichtweise von Mutter und Kind sowie das Bemühen, füreinander Verständnis zu entwickeln. Die im vertrauten Stil eher umrisshaft gehaltenen, teils scheinwerferähnlich betonten, aquarellierten Illustrationen sprechen auf ganz eigene Weise mit reduzierter Mimik und Gestik ausdruckstark den Betrachter an.
