Gegen die Verkitschung des Holocaust zieht Joshua Cohen, der vielbeachtete Autor von »Buch der Zahlen«, alle Register der Komik und Parodie, mischt Biblisches mit Stand-up-Comedy, Hochkultur mit Trash, Familiengeschichte mit Slapstick. Biographisches: "Joshua Cohen wurde 1980 geboren und hat Erzählbände und Romane veröffentlicht. Für sein literarisches Werk erhielt er zahlreiche Auszeichnungen, darunter den Pushcart Prize (2012) und den Award for Young Promising Jewish Writer/Poet (2013). Die Zeitschrift Granta wählte ihn 2017 zu einem der zehn besten jungen amerikanischen Autoren der letzten zehn Jahre. Im Wintersemester 2017/2018 war Joshua Cohen Samuel-Fischer-Gastprofessor an der FU Berlin. Ulrich Blumenbach, übersetzt seit 1993 aus dem Englischen und hat u. a. Werke von Stephen Fry, Jack Kerouac und Arthur Miller sowie Gedichte von Dorothy Parker ins Deutsche gebracht. Für die Übersetzung von David Foster Wallace' »Unendlicher Spaß« wurde er u. a. mit dem Heinrich Maria Ledig-Rowohlt-Preis und dem Preis der Leipziger Buchmesse ausgezeichnet. Für die Arbeit an »Witz« erhielt er das Zuger Übersetzerstipendium und den Kulturpreis der Stadt Basel."
