Das Testament des Orpheus (1960): Ständig zwischen Pathos und Ironie wechselnd, präsentiert Cocteau in seinem letzten Werk Menschen und Motive seiner sehr persönlichen Kinowelt im bewußten Selbstzitat, um sich schließlich dem sybillinischen Gericht seiner Geschöpfe zu stellen.
