Content: China and Vietnam are important center of biodiversity worldwide. Gesneriaceae is a family with extraordinary species richness in China and Vietnam. Within the family, there are more than 600 accepted species in China. The species number will considerably surpass 700 species in China and Vietnam. Furthermore, the massive karst regions between China and Vietnam will provide mega-diverse ecological niches and imply the numerous potential unknown species needing for new discovery. After a long-term collaboration between China and Vietnam, many new findings have been made and research continues even more intensively now-a-days. The special issue will focus on the taxonomy of Gesneriaceae and research progress in China and Vietnam.
Note: Gesneriaceae in China and Vietnam: Perfection of taxonomy based on comprehensive morphological and molecular evidence -- Biogeography and evolution of Asian Gesneriaceae based on updated taxonomy -- Reassessment of Bournea Oliver (Gesneriaceae) based on molecular and palynological evidence -- Two new combinations in Oreocharis (Gesneriaceae) based on morphological, molecular and cytological evidence -- Genetic delimitation of Oreocharis species from Hainan Island -- Four new species of Oreocharis (Gesneriaceae) in Yunnan province, China -- Oreocharis flavovirens, a new species of Gesneriaceae from Southern Gansu Province, China -- Oreocharis wumengensis, a new species of Gesneriaceae from northeastern Yunnan, China -- Oreocharis jasminina (Gesneriaceae), a new species from mountain tops of Hainan Island, South China -- Petrocosmea nanchuanensis (Gesneriaceae), a new species from Chongqing, China -- Didymocarpus lobulatus (Gesneriaceae), a new species from Zhejiang Province, East China -- Two new species of Allocheilos (Gesneriaceae) from the karst regions in Yunnan, China -- Petrocodon luteoflorus (Gesneriaceae), a new species from karst region in Guizhou, China -- Petrocodon rubiginosus, a new species of Gesneriaceae from Guangxi, China -- Petrocodon wenshanensis, a new species of Gesneriaceae from southwestern China -- The taxonomic identity of Didymostigma trichanthera (Gesneriaceae) -- Deinostigma fasciculatum, a new species of Gesneriaceae in Yunnan, China -- Two new species of Paraboea (Gesneriaceae) in Caryota obtusa forests in Southwest China, with compound and simple dichasia, respectively -- Two new taxa of Gesneriaceae in the karst regions in North Vietnam. , In English.
