"Caryl Churchill's play Air is a resonant and surreal short piece written during 2019. It was first performed as part of The Lockdown Plays in May 2020, produced online by Tom Mothersdale, Wilf Scolding and Anoushka Warden. It was performed by Tom Mothersdale and Lydia Wilson, and directed by Wilf Scolding. The play comprises three thematically related sections that can be performed as a monologue, as a dialogue, or by any number of performers. In an author's note included in the published edition, Caryl Churchill writes: 'In early 2019, probably around the time I was writing Imp, I started each day writing whatever came into my head, not trying to make sense or make it into a play. It did settle into something like dialogue, and after about a dozen I stopped because it began to feel more deliberate and so less interesting.'"--About the play.
