Die Verfasser legen Ergebnisse einer empirischen Untersuchung aus dem Jahr 1994 vor, in deren Verlauf qualitative Interviews mit 53 Managern (Generaldirektoren, Direktoren, Abteilungsleiter) aus vier großen, privatisierten Unternehmen der tschechischen Maschinenbauindustrie geführt wurden. Im Mittelpunkt des Interesses steht die Frage nach Kontinuität und Wandel in der Management-Elite vor und nach 1989. Die Untersuchung macht ein hohes Maß an Kontinuität in Struktur und Zusammensetzung der Management-Elite deutlich. Der Systemwechsel 1989 stellte dabei für viele Führungskräfte in unteren Elitepositionen ein Karrieresprungbrett dar. Die Verfasser weisen auf Mechanismen sozialer Schließung und Privilegienabsicherung im Management hin, die für soziale Eliten typisch sind. (BIOst-Wpt)
