Content: Gertrud Kolmar (1894-1943) galt zu ihren Lebzeiten als eine der bedeutendsten deutsch-jüdischen Lyrikerinnen. Nach ihrem gewaltsamen Tod in Auschwitz geriet ihre Dichtung jedoch in den Schatten von Else Lasker-Schüler und Nelly Sachs. Erst ab den 1990er Jahren, nicht zuletzt angeregt durch die Herausgabe ihres Gesamtwerkes durch Regina Nörtemann, intensivierte sich die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Werk von Gertrud Kolmar. Im Zuge dieser Wiederentdeckung liest die vorliegende Studie Kolmars Gedichte und ihre Prosa als ein hoch reflektiertes Verweben von Dichtung und kultureller Geographie. Sie verfolgt die Spannung zwischen den deutschen und jüdischen Kulturtraditionen, die sich beide in Kolmars poetischen Topographien am Ende der Weimarer Republik und dann in Nazideutschland als zunehmend unzureichend präsentieren. Die Studie verspricht nicht nur eine neue Einsicht in Gertrud Kolmars Poetik. Mit ihrer kritischen Darstellung vorhandener jüdischer Diskurse als Schattenbilder deutscher Diskurse stellt Gertrud Kolmars Werk, so das Argument dieser Studie, auch eine wichtige Stimme zwischen zeitgenössischen Dichtungstheorien des kulturellen Zionismus und der jüdischen Kulturverbände dar.
