Ihre Romane, die ihre unkonventionelle Anschauung darlegen, sind inzwischen moderne Klassiker. Sie ist die Autorin von „Atlas Shrugged“ („Der Streik“), dem provokantesten philosophischen Bestseller seiner Zeit. Ihr erster Roman „We, the Living“ („Vom Leben unbesiegt“) erschien 1936. Berühmt wurde sie mit der Veröffentlichung von „The Fountainhead“ („Der Ursprung“) im Jahre 1943. Ayn Rands einzigartige Philosophie, der Objektivismus, wird weltweit kontrovers diskutiert.
