Aus diesen radikalen Veränderungen in der Struktur der Gesellschaft und folglich in der subjektiven Wahrnehmung und Vorstellung der sozialen Wirklichkeit, die sich zuerst in Spanien vollzogen und dann später mit verschiedenen zeitlichen Abständen in anderen Ländern eintraten, ging - wie Alberto Martino in seinen umfangreichen, bahnbrechenden Monographien Il Laza-rillo de Tormes e la sua ricezione in Europa (1554-1753) und Per una sociologia empirica della letteratura del Siglo de Oro sowie in einigen Aufsätzen der Verwandlungen des Pícaro bewiesen hat - die novela picaresca hervor und mit ihr entstand der moderne europäische Roman.

Il volume è arricchito da un atto unico inedito di Paolo Puppa che mette in scena il rapporto tormentato tra Luigi e Stefano Pirandello.

Note: Il presente volume raccoglie le risultanze critiche, dispiegate in forma organicamente argomentata, dell’importante convegno svoltosi a Vienna, tra il 9 e l’11 novembre 2017, con la cura scientifica e organizzativa di Domenica Elisa Cicala e Fausto De Michele, in collegamento conseguente con le giornate pirandelliane di Monaco di Baviera, tra il 6 e l’8 novembre, organizzate dall’EPZ (Europäisches Pirandello Zentrum), il Centro Europeo di Studi Pirandelliani.
