A compilation of footage depicting socio-cultural, political and military life in Spain during the regime of the First Spanish Republic

The film introduces important figures in Spanish politics working in Barcelona and the two federal provinces; the Basque Country and Catalonia. Explores life in Spain during the First Spanish Republic. Viewers are shown the effects of enemy air raids and bombing, which have caused devastation throughout the city. The documentary depicts life in Spanish prison camps, proudly declaring that the camps have no walls or barbed wire and are completely unenclosed. The rest of this segment of footage shows the prisoners working on a railway construction, for which they are paid at the regular trade union rate, and prisoners taking their lunch breaks. During the footage, there are two short POW interrogations. The film emphasises everyday life and shows education opportunities for female nurses as well as young men receiving military training, in preparation for when they become old enough to enter the Spanish army. Other representations of war preparation include footage of a munitions factory
