Dazu werden die unterschiedlichen Gruppierungen vorgestellt, die nach der Macht streben, mit ihren jeweiligen Untergruppen, Zielen und Handicaps: Die Autoren analysieren aber auch die überregionale Rolle Afghanistans sowohl was die US-amerikanischen und pakistanischen Erdöl- bzw. Erdgasinteressen betrifft, als auch, was die religiösen und machtpolitischen Gelüste der Anrainerstaaten angeht. Kritisch auch wieder in der Frage, ob die Bombardierung und Zerstörung eines Landes und Volkes der richtige Weg ist, um einen Terroristen und seine Bande zu jagen.
