Mozarts vier Hornkonzerte gehören zum Kernrepertoire der Hornisten. Drei dieser Konzerte entstanden für einen befreundeten Hornisten namens Joseph Leutgeb, der ein ausgezeichneter Virtuose gewesen sein muss, wenn Mozart solch spritzige und anspruchsvolle Werke für ihn schrieb. Christoph Eß ist der überragende Solist unserer Tage, er ist Solohornist der Bamberger Sinfoniker und wird hier vom Folkwang Kammerorchester begleitet. Als Dreingabe gibt es ein augenzwinkerndes und atemberaubend virtuoses Quartett für 4 Hörner von Trygve Madsen mit den Kollegen von german hornsound. Mozarts Hornkonzerte sollten schon in kleinen Beständen vorhanden sein. Christoph Eß zählt momentan zu den Besten seines Instruments, daher wertet diese Einspielung jeden Bestand auf.
