"The book and exhibition Archaeology of the Digital assume that technology can no longer be discussed 'in the future' but 'in the recent past'. The engagement with digital technology in Frank Gehry's Lewis Residence (1989-95), Peter Eisenman's Frankfurt Biozentrum (1987), Chuck Hoberman's Expanding Sphere and Iris Dome (1988-94), and Shoei Yoh's Odawara Gymnasium and Galaxy Toyama Hall (1990-92) reveal nothing promissory or incomplete. Even more interestingly, for these four projects the architects had already clearly formulated a role for digital technology as they began to incorporate new digital tools into their creative process."--
