Die rechtsradikale Bewegung hat in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland in den vergangenen Jahrzehnten an Bedeutung gewonnen. Von Straßenprotesten über parlamentarische Erfolge und regelmäßige Interventionen in bundesweite Debatten bis hin zu terroristischen Anschlägen zeigte die radikale Rechte zuletzt deutlich, welche Gefahr von ihr ausgeht. Tobias Fernholz untersucht in der vorliegenden Arbeit dieses Mosaik der radikalen Rechten, das von anerkannten Publizist*innen bis zu anschlagverübenden Terrorist*innen reicht. Grundlage der hier vorgenommenen umfangreichen empirischen Analyse rechtsradikaler Alternativöffentlichkeiten sind Daten der Social Media Plattform Facebook, die aus der Perspektive der Bewegungs- und Öffentlichkeitsforschung netzwerk- und inhaltsanalytisch untersucht werden. Im Zentrum steht dabei eine rechtsradikale Identitätspolitik als spezifisches, mit der Ideologie der radikalen Rechten verbundenes Element, das die Kommunikation der rechtsradikalen Bewegung durchzieht und diese anknüpfungsfähig macht. Der Autor Tobias Fernholz ist Politikwissenschaftler und forscht an der Schnittstelle zwischen digitaler Kommunikation und sozialen Bewegungen, wobei sein Schwerpunkt auf der rechtsradikalen beziehungsweise extrem Rechten Bewegung liegt. Er promovierte im Promotionskolleg "Rechtspopulistische Sozialpolitiken und exkludierende Solidarität" der Hans-Böckler-Stiftung an der Eberhard-Karls-Universität Tübingen.
