Südkorea zählt heute zu einer führenden Wirtschaftsmacht nicht nur in der asiatisch-pazifischen Region, sondern auch im Weltmaßstab. Um wesentliche Voraussetzungen und Gesetzmäßigkeiten der Entwicklung "neuer Industrieländer" festzustellen, untersucht der Autor die wirtschaftliche Entwicklung Südkoreas. Zu den wesentlichen Faktoren des Wirtschaftswachstums können gezählt werden: wirtschaftliche und finanzielle Hilfe der USA, die die Politik der "billigen Nahrungsmittel" am Anfang des Industrialisierungsprozesses ermöglicht hat, staatliche Wirtschaftspolitik, die die Entwicklung von großen Wirtschaftskonglomeraten förderte sowie die selektive Verteilung von ausländischem Kapital auf Wirtschaftszweige mit vorrangiger Entwicklung. Eine große Bedeutung für den Staat hatte dabei auch die Unterwerfung aller gesellschaftlicher Schichten, der eine "Bewegung für eine neue Gesellschaft" initiierte. (BIOst-Ldg)
