Los estudios literarios aún no han estimado en su conjunto la singularidad de una obra como la de Andrés Neuman, a pesar de disfrutar ya de un lugar destacado dentro del universo de las letras hispanoamericanas. Así, este volumen supone el primer estudio crítico que analiza de manera comparativa y cronológica las trayectorias de su poética. A lo largo de estas páginas se demuestra cómo Neuman no deja nunca de prescindir de ese hito personal que para el autor supuso la migración de Argentina a España, a partir del cual ha conseguido construir una literatura que se nutre de ese desplazamiento inaugural y al mismo tiempo definitivo. El escritor representa así la identidad como un proceso constante de negociación que se escenifica en su narrativa en una doble poética: la del desarraigo y la del viaje. Dos poéticas que reflejan cómo en Neuman la identidad no preexiste, sino que es narrativizada, y que, por tanto, evoluciona a lo largo de su obra.
