Der Begriff „Netz“ ist Anknüpfungspunkt für die Regulierung der Elektrizitätswirtschaft. Gleichwohl existiert bis heute keine subsumierbare Definition des Netzes. Ein solchermaßen faktisch-rezeptiver Netzbegriff funktioniert in eindeutigen Fällen, bietet jedoch bei der Verortung neuer technischer Entwicklungen wie der Stromspeicherung wenig Halt. Diese Arbeit definiert im Kontext der elektrizitätswirtschaftlichen Regulierung einen abstrakten Netzbegriff ausgehend von den Vorgaben des Europarechts und ökonomischen Zusammenhängen. Auf Grundlage des Netzbegriffs beurteilt sie die netzintegrierte Speichernutzung. Dabei erfolgt auch ein Blick auf die Diskussion in den USA.
