Ziel der Studie ist es, die aktuellen Entwicklungstendenzen in der Wasserver- und Abwasserentsorgung in Deutschland zu analysieren. Im ersten Teil des Berichtes sind vorrangig die Veränderungsprozesse im rechtlichen Rahmen und in den Bedarfsstrukturen Betrachtungsgegenstand, die zu einem erheblichen Anteil den Druck nach einem nachhaltigen Transformationsprozess im Ver- und Entsorgungssektor verstärken. Vor diesem Hintergrund werden im zweiten Teil der Studie Technologien und Systeme bezüglich eines möglichen Einflusses auf die Transformationsdynamik thematisiert. Dabei wird neben der Wasserversorgung auch der Abwassersektor untersucht, da hier ein erheblicher Einfluss auf Transformationsprozesse und Entwicklungsmöglichkeiten zu erwarten sind. Grundlage für diesen Bericht sind sowohl eigene Prognosen und Berechnungen und Recherchen des aktuellen Forschungsstandes, die im Anhang als weiterführende Literatur aufgeführt sind, sowie geführte Experteninterviews bei den Praxispartnern des Forschungsprojektes netWORKS.
