Pulchra Parthenope. Hacia la faceta napolitana de la poesía de Garcilaso es el resultado de los primeros acercamientos de Eugenia Fosalba, desde ángulos distintos, a la obra de Garcilaso de la Vega. La autora se ha propuesto aquí reestructurar material en su mayoría ya publicado de forma dispersa. El punto de partida es un Garcilaso en plena formación que, en 1525, entra en contacto con grandes humanistas italianos sin salir de las puertas de Toledo, y sigue con su llegada a Nápoles, siete años después, en un momento dulce de su madurez como poeta. Hay una primera cala en las academias del Regno que acababan de extinguirse por entonces, así como en las que se habían ido abriendo. Después, el foco de atención se centra en la meteórica adaptación del poeta a las discusiones más candentes, así como en la huella de la circunstancia, o de lo particular, en su constante búsqueda de la universalidad, para terminar desvelando la constelación de personajes, relaciones y textos preceptivos que lo pusieron frente a un nuevo reto: la ejecución en lengua castellana de su obra de corte neoclásico en muy escaso margen de tiempo, antes de su muerte prematura
