Series Statement: Research in multi level issues, v. 6
Content: This volume contains three main themes. The first theme relates to financial developments in the MENA region, emphasizing the role of stock markets and portfolio flows, foreign direct investments and private and public savings in the growth and development experience of the region. We see echoed throughout the first few chapters the notion that financial liberalization has many benefits as well as risks not only for the countries involved, but for international investors as well. For the countries of this region, we see the promise of enhanced growth and development through more developed financial markets that can facilitate the important relationship between investors and savers. For the international investor, we see a region that is posed to offer returns that are strongly correlated to risk. In the developing economies of the MENA region commercial banks have played a prominent role in economic growth since capital markets are still underdeveloped and still lack the appropriate mechanisms to channel effectively and efficiently funds from surplus units to deficit units. The next theme of the volume relates to the role commercial banks have played in channelling funds from savings to investments, and their role in the financing for development experience of some MENA economies. Finally, and on a broader level, the conduct of monetary policy in some MENA countries is highlighted with some emphasis on exchange rate policies and the use of some exchange rate regimes and their impact on the economies of the region.

Series Statement: Research in multi level issues, v. 3
Content: Multi-Level Issues in Organizational Behavior and Processes is Volume 3 of Research in Multi-Level Issues, an annual series that provides an outlet for the discussion of multi-level problems and solutions across a variety of fields of study. Using a scientific debate format of a key scholarly essay followed by two commentaries and a rebuttal, we present, in this series, theoretical work, significant empirical studies, methodological developments, analytical techniques, and philosophical treatments to advance the field of multi-level studies, regardless of disciplinary perspective. Similar to Volumes 1 and 2, this volume, Volume 3, contains five major essays with commentaries and rebuttals that cover a range of topics, but in the realms of organizational behavior and processes. In particular, the five critical essays offer extensive literature reviews, new model developments, methodological advancements, and some empirical data for the study of part-time work, trust, diversity, construct validation, and organizational processes. While each of the major essays, and associated commentaries and rebuttals, is unique in orientation, they show a common bond in raising and addressing multi-level issues or discussing problems and solutions that involve multiple levels of analysis.

Series Statement: Research in multi level issues, v. 5
Content: This volume brings together a set of studies analyzing different aspects of food and agriculture in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). This sector is of crucial importance to the MENA economies, especially in terms of employment. Agriculture is particularly important for the poor, both on the consumption side - a large part of their budget is allocated to food - and as a source of incomes as most of the poor live in rural areas where agriculture dominates. Agriculture production in MENA is severely constrained by water scarcity and low, irregular rainfall. Sustainability is a major concern in many parts of the region as the quality of land and water resources is deterioration and scarcity becomes more severe due to growing competition from other parts of the economy. The fact that the region relies on imports for a large share of its food consumption is a major concern for policymakers who view this as a threat to national food security and a source of political vulnerability. The studies included in this volume range from regional overview to micro studies. The chapters with a country focus cover issues that are recurrent in many MENA countries, giving them a broader relevance. The analyses cover policy issues in a wide range of areas - water, drought management, agriculture technology, producer and consumer subsidies, domestic food distribution, and foreign trade - and discusses how coordinated policies in these and other areas can contribute to more rapid, sustainable growth and poverty reduction.
Note: Overview : multi-level issues in social systems / Fred Dansereau, Francis J. Yammarino -- Multi-level fit : complexity, values, and climate / Kerstin A. Aumann, Cheri Ostroff -- Continuous learning in organizations : a living systems analysis of individual, group, and organization learning / Manuel London, Valerie I. Sessa -- Multi-level fit : an integrative framework for understanding HRM practices in cross-cultural contexts / Kerstin A. Aumann, Cheri Ostroff -- Continuous learning : why is it still an issue? / David V. Day, Brian W. Tate -- A multi-level inquiry and elaboration : continuous learning within and across organizations, groups, and individuals / Steven E. Markham, Richard L. Groesbeck, Bret R. Swan -- Continuous learning about continuous learning : clarifying and expanding a multi-level, living system's analysis / Valerie I. Sessa, Manuel London -- The importance of the common family background for the similarity of divorce risks of siblings : a multi-level event history analysis / Jaap Dronkers, Joop Hox -- Sibling effects on divorce : common family background, common genetic heritage, or continuing interaction among adult siblings / Michael P. Farrell -- Multi-level event history analysis for a sibling design : the choice of predictor variables / Tom A.B. Content: This is the 10th anniversary edition of "Transformational and Charismatic Leadership: The Road Ahead." In the current compendium, we seek to update the theoretical and empirical work and professional practice issues associated with transformational and charismatic leadership that have transpired over the past decade. To accomplish this purpose, we asked authors from the original volume to provide an addendum to their original chapters updating what has occurred in their work realm over the last 10 years and what still needs to be done. In this way, we chose to leave the original "classic" chapters intact, while getting targeted updates to the work in each chapter. The author-teams highlight past work and offer new research ideas, insights, and directions for future work in their new contributions. In addition, we discuss these author-team contributions, take stock to date of the forecasts (predictions and projections) made in the original volume on future trends in leadership research and practice, take stock of the issues raised about what is missing from this leadership realm, and provide our views of new directions for theory, research and practice on transformational and charismatic leadership. In this way, we hope to participate in re-setting the stage for the next decade of theory and research on transformational and charismatic leadership
