Das 19. Jahrhundert war die Blütezeit experimenteller Beschäftigung und Weiterentwicklung von Instrumenten. Das Horn war zu Beethovens Zeit noch ein ventilloses Naturhorn, später entwickelten die Instrumentenmacher parallel verschiedene Ventilsysteme, was zu abweichenden Klangcharakteristika führte und abweichende Spieltechniken erforderte. Diese CD nimmt diese Entwicklungen auf, indem die Solisten je vier verschiedene Hörner und Klaviere einsetzen, die zur Zeit der Kompositionen bekannt waren. Beethovens Hornsonate F-Dur op. 17 und Schumanns Adagio und Allegro op. 70 für Horn und Klavier werden folglich auf anderen Instrumenten gespielt als die Werke von Franz Strauss, Rossini, Camille Saint-Saens, Glasunow oder Paul Dukas. Eine gelungene Reise durch das kammermusikalische Repertoire für Horn und Klavier aus dem 19. Jahrhunderts und die Bandbreite des Hornklangs. Da in letzter Zeit nur wenige Horn-Einspielungen erschienen sind, wird diese ganz besonders empfohlen. pr
