Er ist außerdem Musiker, Herausgeber und Autor von Sachbüchern (vgl. ID-B 6/14). Das Buch basiert auf der wahren Geschichte von Oskar Speck, der sein Abenteuer 1932 startete. Der Autor sichtete viele Originalquellen, teilweise aus dem Nachlass Specks, sodass etliche der erzählten Begebenheiten authentisch sind, einige Dinge wurden für die Geschichte geändert bzw. hinzugefügt. Der Schreibstil ist angenehm zu lesen. Da nur selten Jahreszahlen genannt werden und die Handlung in der Zeit oft springt, ist es manchmal etwas schwer, den Geschehnissen zu folgen und sie einzuordnen. Insgesamt jedoch ein spannender, mitreißender Roman, bisher auch der einzige über den Abenteurer. In allen Bibliotheken möglich.
