Pustet erschienene, gut lesbare Band (damals hier nicht angezeigt) beschließt die informelle Marix-Reihe "Menschen, die Geschichte schrieben" (zuletzt ID-B 47/14). Die Bücher basieren auf einer Ringvorlesung der Universität Eichstätt. Die Autoren "versuchen der Frage auf den Grund zu gehen, was einen Menschen des 20. Jahrhunderts zum Mythos werden lässt" (Einleitung). Neben historischen mythenumwobenen Gestalten wie Che Guevara, John F. Kennedy, Albert Einstein, Picasso, Johannes Paul II., Marilyn Monroe und Madonna gibt es auch einen Aufsatz über die Comicfigur Asterix. Mit 2 einleitenden Beiträgen über das Projekt des Neuen Menschen während der frühen Sowjetzeit und der Apotheose von Diktatoren im 20. Jahrhundert (Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Lenin, Mao). Anmerkungen und Literaturangaben am Ende der Kapitel. Mit einigen Schwarz-Weiß-Fotos von z.T. geringer Schärfe. Zur preiswerten Komplettierung der Reihe oder als Einzelbezug empfohlen.
