En quittant le Maroc, les Juifs ont emporté avec eux leur chant religieux, leur hazanout. Réunis à la Synagogue Buffault de Paris, le rabbin Haïm Louk, venu de Los Angeles, et les hazanim ( les chantres) Malkiel Benamara, Albert Bouadanah, Gad Benchabat, Elie Tordjman et Salomon Nahmias, tous originaires du Maroc, entonnent ces chants qui marquent tous les moments de la vie juive, en particulier celui du Shabbat. Interprétés sur le mode des noubas andalouses, ces chants réunissent des groupes d'adeptes fidèles au Roi David le psautier appelés les "Gardiens de l'Aube" (UNESCO Memory of the World Register)
