Das Mahagonny-Songspiel von 1927 war die erste Kooperation zwischen Kurt Weill und Bertolt Brecht. Es besteht aus fünf Gesangsnummern, einem gesungenen Epilog und einigen instrumentalen Passagen. Eine "Handlung" im dramaturgischen Sinn des Wortes fehlt in diesem Werk. Später erweiterte Weill das Werk mit den Songs aus dem Songspiel zur abendfüllenden Oper "Aufstieg und Fall der Stadt Mahagonny". Die "Chansons des Quais", ein Zyklus für Sopran, Männerquartett und Kammerorchester, vereint Songs und Zwischenmusiken, die Weill 1934 ursprünglich für eine musikalische Bearbeitung des Romans "Marie Galante" komponiert hatte. Darüber hinaus enthält die CD Weills "Kleine Dreigroschenmusik" von 1928, eine Suite für Blasorchester, die der Komponist angesichts der enormen Beliebtheit seines Musiktheaterwerks "Die Dreigroschenoper" arrangierte. Das Ensemble amarcord, das Ensemble Modern und HK Gruber, der bereits mehrfach hervorragende Brecht-Weill-Einspielungen vorgelegt hat, sind die Interpreten. Nachdrückliche Empfehlung. pr
