Blick schien mir der Titel mit seiner geschichtsträchtigen Coverpose wie Politnostalgie, doch das gab sich im Lesen der überaus informativen, ohne Politpathos verfassten Geschichten sofort. Unter oftmals schwierigen Bedingungen führten die Autorinnen Interviews mit Frauen aus Serbien, Georgien, Tunesien, Ägypten, Algerien, den Malediven und den Philippinen, vorangestellt jeweils ein Rückblick auf die jüngere politische Entwicklung. Gewaltfrei, fantasiereich, dabei hoch gefährdet kämpfen sie für Menschenrechte, Demokratie und säkulare Staatsverfassungen, gegen Folter und Sklaverei in ihren Ländern. Siege quittieren sie ohne Euphorie, so bei Ben Alis Sturz: "Wir haben nur den Kopf des Regimes abgeschlagen, das System selbst ist intakt. Wir haben nicht viel erreicht". Tatsächlich gibt die aktuelle Lage nirgends Anlass zu Optimismus, so in Ägypten: "Wir haben nicht gewonnen, das ist klar. Aber es ist noch nicht vorbei!" oder im Touristenparadies Malediven: "Die wahren Herrscher sind kriminelle Clans und religiöse Extremisten". Als wichtiger Fingerzeig auf Diktaturen der Gegenwart: (2)
