TON-E Der Musik des polnisch-jüdischen Komponisten Mieczyslaw Weinberg wohnt ein besonderer Zauber inne! Nach ihrem umjubelten Deutsche-Grammophon-Debüt Weinberg: Symphonies Nos. 2 & 21" im Jahr 2019 setzt die Ausnahme-Dirigentin ihre ganz persönliche Mission fort, Weinbergs bedeutendes Werk in herausragenden Einspielungen einem möglichst breiten Publikum zugänglich zu machen und veröffentlicht nun die Sinfonien Nr. 3 & 7 mit seinem Flötenkonzert. Die 3. Sinfonie op. 45 erzählt von einer schwierigen Zeit. Seit 1943 lebte und arbeitete Weinberg, der 1939 aus seiner Heimatstadt Warschau hatte fliehen müssen, in Moskau. Dmitri Schostakowitsch war ein enger Freund geworden, und als aufstrebender junger Komponist hatte Weinberg schnell seinen Platz im Kreis der Moskauer Musiker gefunden. Hier wurde Weinberg zunehmend für seinen fortschrittlichen Kompositionsstil kritisiert. Das 1. Flötenkonzert op. 75, das Weinberg 1961 komponierte, weist einen deutlichen Bezug zur jüdischen Musik auf, vor allem im sanften und leichtfüßigen Walzer-Gestus des 3. Satzes, den Weinberg selbst als junger Warschauer Pianist auf jüdischen Hochzeiten gespielt haben mag. Die 7. Symphonie entpuppt sich als eine Art barockes Concerto grosso, das in einen zeitgenössischen Kontext transponiert wurde. In den fünf Sätzen, die attacca aufeinander folgen, wird das gesamte Klangspektrum der Streichinstrumente im Wechselspiel zwischen Cembalo und Streichern ausgelotet.
