Der Verfasser legt eine Einschätzung der russischen Politik in Moldawien aus der Sicht eines außenpolitischen Beraters der moldawischen Regierung vor. Im Mittelpunkt steht der von der moldawischen Regierung abgelehnte russische Vorschlag, das 1992 eingerichtete Mandat der russischen Friedenstruppen auf die 14. Russische Armee zu übertragen. Nach Ansicht des Verfassers diente die russische Friedensmission vor allem der Konsolidierung der abtrünnigen Dniester-Republik. Eine ähnliche Politik sieht er im russischen Vorgehen in Georgien (Süd-Ossetien). Den zukünftigen Status russischer Truppen in Moldawien hält der Verfasser, trotz der ablehnenden Haltung der moldawischen Regierung den Wünschen Moskaus gegenüber, gegenwärtig für offen. Er befürwortet ein stärkeres Engagement der OSZE. (BIOst-Wpt)
