Er legt den Fokus auf die Gefühlswelt der Protagonisten. Agamemnon, Ajax, Achill, Odysseus, Hector, Kassandra und andere Helden aus der "Ilias" von Homer lassen den Leser an ihren Gedanken, Wünschen, Befürchtungen und Ängsten, vor allem aber an ihrem Schmerz und ihrer Wut und Rachsucht, teilhaben. Sie wissen sich zwar eingebettet in das vorherbestimmte Schicksal, wollen aber durch ehrenvollen Ruhm die Unsterblichkeit erlangen. Guidorizzi versucht nicht wie Raoul Schrott in seiner Übertragung (ID-G 8/09), Homer durch Jugendsprache zu entstauben, sondern hat weniger bekannte und berühmte Episoden des Epos mit widersprüchlichen, manchmal auch abstoßenden Protagonisten ausgewählt und aneinandergereiht, um heutige Leser mit diesen uralten, archaischen Stoffen zu fesseln, was man durchaus als gelungen ansehen kann, auch wenn Vorkenntnisse für das Verständnis hilfreich sind. Größeren Büchereien empfohlen.
