Content:
Während der Jagd einer Sippe australischer Ureinwohner nach Enteneiern wird offenbar, dass der Jüngste die dritte Frau seines älteren Bruders begehrt. Der reagiert gelassen und erzählt dem Jungen eine ähnlich gelagerte Geschichte aus der Vorzeit der Aborigines, die mit tragischen Verwechslungen, Rache und Tod endete. Das ebenso poetische wie bildgewaltige Drama wird ganz aus dem Blickwinkel der australischen Ureinwohner erzählt, wobei Dinge des täglichen (Über-)Lebens gleichberechtigt neben der archaischen Liebesmetapher stehen. Der zeitlose Film hat die Wucht eines shakespeareschen Dramas und schafft es mit viel Humor, das Denk- und Wertesystem der Aborigines näher zu bringen. [film-dienst]
