Dr. Günther Wyschofsky war über 24 Jahre Minister für Chemische Industrie in der DDR und 27 Jahre lang Vorsitzender der Ständigen Kommission für Chemische Industrie des Rates für Gegenseitige Wirtschaftshilfe (RGW). Er ist ein Zeitzeuge und kennt die politischen Hintergründe für die politischen und wirtschaftlichen Probleme der vergangenen DDR aus seiner täglichen Arbeit. Robert Kunze und Gunter-Eckhard Hackemesser haben Günther Wyschofsky viele Jahre begleitet; der eine als Forschungsdirektor des Chemieanlagenbaukombinates Leipzig-Grimma, der andere als Presse- und Protokollchef. Die Antworten auf ihre Fragen an ihren damaligen Chef, fast 14 Jahre nach der Wende sollen mithelfen, die Vergangenheit besser zu verstehen; immer mit Blick auf die wahren, aber auch auf die politisch hausgemachten Probleme eines Industriezweiges, der eigentlich getreu der These "zum Wohle der Menschen" wirken sollte.
