Am besten liest man das Buch als farbenprächtigst ausgeschmückte Lebensbeschreibung aus wirren Zeiten, deren wahren Kern allein ein Kriminalist von Vidocqs Einfallsreichtum herausfinden könnte. Temporeich, voller aufregender Wendungen und mit einem siegreichen Helden versehen, kann man mit diesem Buch vergnügliche Stunden zubringen.
