Innerhalb der "... für Dummies"-Reihe gibt es bereits eine ganze Anzahl an Chemieübungs- und -aufgabenbüchern (hier zuletzt A. Winter: ID-A 2/11, S. Ortanderl: ID-A 20/13). Anders als bei letzterem Titel, bei dem eine gezielte Prüfungsvorbereitung innerhalb eines begrenzten Zeitraums im Mittelpunkt steht, geht es in dem vorliegenden Arbeitsbuch um das regelmäßige Üben an sich: "Schlagen Sie das Inhaltsverzeichnis auf, suchen Sie sich das Thema, das Sie interessiert, und legen Sie los." Eine bestimmte Reihenfolge ist hierbei also nicht von Belang; nur innerhalb eines Themas sollte - da geordnet nach Schwierigkeitsgrad - jeweils chronologisch vorgegangen werden. Auch eine gezielte thematische Suche über das ausführliche Stichwortregister am Ende des Buchs ist möglich. Die insgesamt 963 Aufgaben (ausführlich erläuterte Lösungen im 2. Teil des Werks) decken den größten Teil der Themen ab, die für Schüler und Lehrer an Gymnasien, Auszubildende in Laborberufen, Praktiker sowie Studienanfänger mit Haupt- und Nebenfach Chemie von Belang sind (vgl. hierzu E.
