Ein Anatomiemuseum eignet sich vortrefflich zum Sinnieren über das Leben an sich. Der Konservator lebt faktisch im Museum und wohnt in Stockwerk darüber. Die von ihm präparierten Innenohren leisten ihm gute Gesellschaft, ebenso die "schöne Beischläferin", eine konservierte Frau aus einem vergangenen Jahrhundert, vertikal aufgeschnitten, mit einem intakten Embryo in ihrem Bauch. Die Diagnose eines inoperablen Hirntumors gibt ihm nur noch kurze Zeit zu leben; darüber ist er offenbar nicht wehmütig, nur fühlt er sich bemüßigt, auf seinen Spaziergängen durch das Museum die Umstände und Geschichten seiner Umgebung in sich aufzusaugen. Viele unausgesprochene Wünsche und Sehnsüchte wuchern in seiner Seele, doch wird er sie nie denken, geschweige denn in die Tat umsetzen. Saskia Hennig von Lange hat nicht die sprachliche Unbekümmertheit ihrer Namensvetterin Alexa, doch eine ganz fabelhafte Stimme, die zu verfolgen sich lohnen wird. Diese kleine, leise Novelle wird ihre Liebhaber finden. Dennoch, wegen des vergleichsweise hohen Preises, nur größeren Beständen empfohlen.

Der Konservator eines Anatomiemuseums leidet an einem inoperablen Hirntumor, dessen Diagnose ihn nicht in Aufregung versetzt, ganz im Gegenteil: Er führt sein altes Leben fort, befleißigt sich nur umso mehr in die Beobachtung und gedankliche Dokumentation seiner Umgebung, des Museums.
