Vielleicht, weil Higgs früher einmal eine Biografie über Timothy Leary, den Autor und Drogenfreund, verfasst hat, steht nun auf seinen Buchrücken gern, es handele sich um "ein Buch wie ein Trip" (beim vorliegenden und auch schon beim letzten: "Alles ist relativ und anything goes", ID-B 18/16). Auch thematisch bleibt er sich treu: Wie beim genannten Vorgänger geht es neuerlich um das 20. Jahrhundert. Die Publikation (Original: 2015) ist in 15 Kapitel gegliedert, u.a. zu Teenagern, Sex, Weltraum und Nihilismus. Hierzu gibt er jeweils kurze, kulturgeschichtliche Abrisse, indem er einzelne Personen oder Ereignisse herauspickt. Das Buch ist textlastig, aber allgemein verständlich. Wenige Schwarz-Weiß-Fotos und ein Register runden das Taschenbuch ab.
