Das vorliegende Buch ist der Versuch einer Zusammenstellung der gebräuchlichsten Fachausdrücke aus der deutschen und anglo-amerikanischen Glasindustrie. Da diesen Industriezweig einerseits die Traditionsgebundenheit eines jahrtausendealten Handwerks, andererseits eine rasche Entwicklung und zunehmende Mechanisierung kennzeichnet, habe ich versucht, sowohl die moderne Glastechnik, als auch die Fachsprache des Glasmachers zu Wort kommen zu lassen. Dabei ist mir von seiten der Geschaftsleitung der A.G. der Gerresheimer Glashüttenwerke, Düsseldorf-Gerresheim, und von zahlreichen Mitarbeitern und Fachleuten im In- und Ausland jede mögliche Unterstützung zuteil geworden, für die ich an dieser Stelle aufrichtig danke. Die Lebendigkeit einer Sprache schließt den Anspruch eines Wörterbuches auf Vollständigkeit von vornherein aus; wieviel mehr noch, wenn es, wie in diesem Falle, eine erste Fachwörtersammlung auf dem Glasgebiet darstellt. Jeder Beitrag zu einer Verbesserung oder Ergänzung des kleinen Werkes wird daher mit Dank entgegengenommen.
