Der demografische Wandel umfasst viele Bereiche der Gesellschaft, auch die
Zusammensetzung der Nutzer Öffentlicher Bibliotheken. Die Nutzerstruktur
Öffentlicher Bibliotheken entspricht nicht der Bevölkerungsstruktur, insbesondere
der Anteil der Senioren in den Bibliotheken ist geringer. Am
Beispiel der Stadtbüchereien Düsseldorf wird gezeigt, wie eine Öffentliche
Bibliothek auf die demografischen Veränderungen reagiert, um auch langfristig
Erfolg zu haben. Hierzu helfen u. a. regelmäßige Kundenbefragungen
und Projekte, um langfristig mehr Nutzer der Bibliotheken zu erhalten. Insbesondere
die Arbeit am lebenszeitlichen Lesefenster im Kindesalter führt
nicht nur zu kurzfristigen Erfolgen, sondern bindet generationenübergreifend
auch Senioren an die Bibliothek.
