Klappentext: Dieser Symposiumbericht, der unter den übergreifenden Aspekten "Netzwerke, Schriften, Räume, Wirkungen" die Bedeutung der Wolfenbütteler Hofkapelle im 16./17. Jahrhundert vorstellt, präsentiert neue, auch internationale Forschungsergebnisse. In der Wolfenbütteler Hofkapelle waren u.a. Michael Praetorius, Heinrich Schütz und Johann Rosenmüller leitend tätig. Weitere Vernetzungen erschließen die Beiträge zur Orgelbauerfamilie Compenius, zu Löhneysen, zu Glasenapp sowie zu bisher unbekannten Quellen von Chorbüchern und Notendrucken. Es ist bei der großen Bedeutung von Michael Praetorius und seinem Einfluss auf das Musikleben dieser Zeit nur verständlich, dass nahezu alle Beiträge immer wieder auf sein Wirken als einer herausragenden Figur der Zeit zurückkommen. Der Band würdigt zugleich das Wirken von Prof. Siegfried Vogelsänger (1927-2015), der mit Publikationen, Vorträgen und Konzertveranstaltungen zu Praetorius den Einfluss dieses Komponisten und seiner Wolfenbütteler Hofkapelle auf die geistliche und weltliche Musik wieder in den Focus der Fachwelt rückte.
